ALOE
(A. vera syn. A. bardadensis)

Helps heal cuts, grazes, scrapes and mild burns
Good for sunburn and itchy skin.
Treatment – Break off the upper part of the fleshy
leaf and split apart to obtain the clear gel. Apply this directly
to the skin.
Caution: Do not use if pregnant

ARNICA
(Arnica Montana)

|
One of the best herbs for healing bruises and sprains
Cream can be useful where poor circulation is a contributory
factor, such as chilblains
Contains antiseptic, anti-inflammatory properties for external
use only.
Treatment – Rub the arnica cream, gel or ointment into
the affected area until bruising has gone.
Caution: Do not use if the skin is broken

CHICKWEED
(Stellaria media)

Draws splinters and infection from wounds and insect bites
Clears irritated skin conditions.
Treatment – Rub chickweed cream or ointment into affected
area – the soothing, healing effect will also help reduce
scarring on new wounds

COMFREY
(Symphytum officinale)

A massage oil to relieve stiff and aching joints
Heals wounds, sprains, breaks and bruises.
Treatment – Rub comfrey infused oil into skin over
stiff and aching joints and onto scar tissue to aid healing.
Rub comfrey ointment on areas of injury, sprains, bruises
and breaks.
Caution: Do not use if skin is broken

NETTLE
(Urtica dioica)
|
Relieves allergic conditions including hayfever, asthma and
eczema
Will alleviate stuffy nose and watery eyes.
Treatment – When taken internally as an infusion contains
powerful anti-allergic properties which prevent the body from
making prostaglandins (inflammatory chemicals).
Dosage: take three teaspoons of fresh nettle tops and pour
on boiling water, leave to cool – drink three / four cups
daily

YARROW
(Achillea millefolium)

Treats allergies such as allergic rhinitis
As a wound herb it helps stop bleeding and treats cuts that
become inflamed
Treatment – as a cream or wash for cuts and inflamed wounds,
rub on the affected area. Infuse yarrow in boiling water and
inhale the steam for allergic rhinitis. To stop bleeding chew
a few leaves and apply directly to the cut (for the sake of
hygiene chew your own leaves)

ESSENTIAL OIL:

Essential oil of lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is also good
for burns, wounds, rashes and skin troubles. It also makes an
effective insect repellent. It acts as a painkiller. Lavender
oil can be used neat on insect strings and bites. |
